Gadsden Country Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society.
The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.
Gadsden Country Club located in Gadsden, Alabama is a private, 18 holes, five star club. The county is Etowah. This is a well-maintained course with a lot of variety. The front nine has fairly tight fairways, and the back nine has liberal fairways, although more water comes into play on the back nine. The terrain is flat with some mounding, and there is a standard cut of rough neighboring the fairways. The average-sized greens are somewhat sloped and have medium speed. Joe Finger has remodeled and designed the course and not much of the original design remains.
This club was built in 1919, the greens grass type is Bent and water hazards are present. The range of bunkers is 21 to 30. Carts are electric and walking is allowed. Besides there is a restaurant, snack bar and full bar.
