Friendly Hills Country Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Friendly Hills Country Club is a famous golf course that is located in the Villaverde Whittier area of California. It is a private golf course that is extremely well maintained with a great deal of variation. It was built in the year 1968 and designed by a renowned designer Jimmy Hines. The course features include Bent and Bermuda green grass type and fairways respectively with 31 to 40 sand bunkers and 200, 150, 100 yard markers. This eighteen whole course is situated amongst the rolling hills of Whittier where wind kicks up, coming through the canyon, making proper club selection an important aspect of the game. The course has numerous elevation changes and the terrain is very hilly with several fairways being narrow in width. Many of its fairways are lined by out-of-bounds stakes, so shot accuracy is at a premium. Water comes into play on eight of the eighteen holes. Ever changing and ever challenging, Friendly Hills Country Club provides a memorable experience for golfers of every skill level. The club’s aim is not just to make the green but it is to improve the quality of the game, to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests and members by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
