Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Citronelle is the famous municipal golf course that is located in the Citronelle suburb of Alabama. It is a public golf course that has 18 holes and is extremely well maintained with a great deal of variation. It was built in the year 1975 and designed by a renowned designer. The course features includes green grass type of the Tifdwarf category, with 21 to 30 sand bunkers, marked sprinkler heads and 200, 150, 100 yard markers. This secluded course is located in a wooded area and the front nine is open, and the back nine tends to be tight. Water hazards with six ponds and a lake come into play on six holes. The course is hilly with four dogleg fairways while the greens are large and guarded by sand bunkers. Open but challenging, Citronelle Municipal golf course is an Alabama favorite of golfers of all skill levels.
