Cambrian Ridge
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Cambrian Ridge is a famous golf course that is located in the Greenville suburb, off Sunbelt Parkway of Alabama. It is a public golf course that has 18 holes and is extremely well maintained with a great deal of variation. It was built in the year 1993 and designed by renowned designers Robert Trent Jones and Greens Grass. The course features include Bermuda grass type, with 31 to 40 sand bunkers and 200, 150, 100 yard markers. Cambrian Ridge has three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations. The most popular layouts are the Loblolly and Sherling course while the most demanding course is the Canyon course. The terrain on the Sherling course is somewhat rolling whereas the terrain on the Canyon course is hilly, and the terrain on the Loblolly course is flat. Water hazards come into play on all four courses. The Canyon Course, due to its hilly terrain, requires many uphill and downhill shots. The short course is a very challenging featuring fast greens and several strategically placed hazards. Cart rental fee is slightly lower for the short course. A senior discount is offered for all three courses from Monday through Thursday before 9 a.m. Open but challenging, Cambrian Ridge is an Alabama favorite of golfers of all skill levels. Their goal is not just to make the green but it is to improve the quality of the game, to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests and members by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
