Burningtree Country Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Burningtree Country Club is a famous golf course that is located in Burningtree Decatur of Alabama. This club is home of the spirit invitational and is extremely well maintained with a great deal of variation. It was built in the year 1964 and designed by a renowned designer George Cobb. The course features includes green grass type of the Bermuda category, with 31 to 40 sand bunkers and 200, 150, 100 yard markers. The terrain is flat and easy to walk. There are natural and water hazards with lakes and ponds that come into play on some holes. The undulating greens are medium in size and speedy. Patches of woodlands are scattered throughout the entire course and at times can cause golfers some real grief.
Open but challenging, Burningtree Country Club is an Alabama favorite of golfers of all skill levels.
