Briarmead Golf Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Briarmead Golf Club is a private club located in Glencoe, Alabama and the county is Etowah. This picturesque course is surrounded by mountains and woods. The greens are elevated and somewhat sloped. It was built in 1936. Its designer was George L. Black. The greens grass type is Bent while the fairways grass type is Bermuda. Water hazards are not present and the sand bunkers range from 1 to 10. Training facilities are available and walking is allowed.
