Bent Brook Golf Course
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Bent Brook Golf Course, located in Bessemer, Alabama was built in 1988. Its designer was Ward Northrup and the greens grass type is Bent. Its fairways grass type is Bermuda. The sand bunkers range from 21 to 30 while yardage markers range from 100 to 200 yards. Their training facilities include putting green, chipping area and teaching professional golf. Their on-site golf professional is Lynn Shaffer. It is also open for guests. Rental clubs are available, carts are electric and walking is allowed. Besides, wine is available in restaurant and bars. This club has three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations. All three courses have wide-open fairways with only a small number of trees that can affect your shots, although a standard cut of rough gives them definition. The three courses are The Brook Course, The Graveyard Course and The Windmill Course. All these three courses were built on rolling terrain.
Their goal is not to merely make the green but also to improve the quality of the game. They focus to exceed the needs and expectations of their members, guests and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
