Avila Beach Resort
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. Avila Beach Course is a resort type golf course and is located at 6464 Ana Bay Drive Avila Beach, California, United States of America. This course has many interesting holes with several elevated trees and greens, particularly on the front nine. The front nine also has several holes with narrow openings from the tee to the fairway. Large trees line the fairways and come into play throughout the course. The greens vary in size from small to large and are sloped, but do not have any severe undulation. There are several holes that require shots over water or gullies.
Three separate holes on the back nine require a shot across a river. One very interesting hole is number 11, a 502-yard and par 5, which requires an approach shot between two enormous hills to the green. The hills were required to be left in place due to environmental concerns. The only way to the green is over old railroad track siding that runs between the two hills.
Avila course was built in the year 1969 and was designed by Olin Dutra. The green grass in the course is of the bent grass and the fairways grass in the course is of the bermuda grass type with water hazards. There are around 21 to 30 sand bunkers. The yardage markers in the course are 200, 150 and 100. According to the policies of the course, spikes are mandatory.
