Athens Golf Course was built in the year 1952 and was designed by William Burton. The greens grass and the fairways grass in the course are of the bermuda grass type with water hazards. There are around 21 to 30 sand bunkers in the course. The Yardage Markers in the course are 200, 150 and 100 and also the sprinkler heads are marked.  According to the policies of the course, spikes are mandatory.
