Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. A renowned designer George C. Thomas built the course in 1926. The course offers features that include Bent grass type and Kikuya grass fairways with 41 to 50 sand bunkers and 200, 150, 100 yard markers. The Riviera Country Club hosted the 1948, United States open as well as the 1983 and 1995 PGA, Professional Golfer’s Association Championships. The PGA Tour's Nissan open is also held each year. Numerous professional tournaments are held at this club that indicate the quality of this course. Golf magazine selected it 16th among the top 100 courses in the U.S. for 1995, 24th in 1997 and 26th in 1999. The Riviera Country Club is one of the best Golf courses offering the players suitable playing environment.
