Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society.
The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.
Rancho Mirage Country Club is one of the exciting and rewarding golf courses and is located in the Rancho Mirage suburb of California. It is a semi private golf course that is extremely well maintained with a great deal of variation. It was built in the year 1982 and designed by a renowned designer Harold Heers. The course features include Bent grass type and Winter Rye fairways with 31 to 40 sand bunkers and 200, 150, 100 yard markers.
Rancho Mirage Country Club was built on rolling terrain and features narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens. The course sets the tone on the first hole with a sharp dogleg right fairway with out-of-bounds to the left and trees and bunkers to the right. The second hole plays just over 100 yards requires a precise shot to hit the large green. Water hazards with lakes come into play on six holes.
