It was built in the year 1988 and designed by a renowned designer Robert Trent Jones. The course features include Bent grass type and Bermuda grass fairways with 51 to 60 sand bunkers and 200, 150, 100 yard markers.
 
Rancho La Quinta course has sparsely tree-lined fairways. The course is majestically framed by the Santa Rosa Mountains. The wind kicks up in the daytime, coming through the canyon, making proper club selection an important aspect of the game. This traditional course also features extremely fast and sloped greens.
