The Olympic Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. The Olympic Club is located in Skyline Blvd, San Francisco, California. Their golf course is a private one with 45 holes. This club, which hosted the U.S. Open in 1955, 1966, 1987, and 1998, offers two regulation eighteen hole courses and a nine hole par 3 course. This club was originally founded in 1879 and was listed by the USGA, United States Golf Association as one of the first 100 clubs established in the U.S. In addition, it was recognized by Golf Magazine in their lists of the first 100 clubs in America, top 100 courses in the U.S. and Golfweek's category of America's 100 best classical courses. The Club has multiple courses namely lake, ocean and cliffs. The club was built in the year 1860 and the designer was Sam Whiting. Their green grass type is Poa Annua and Fairways grass type is bent. There are no water hazards and sand bunkers vary from 61 to 70. Yardage markers are 200, 150 and 100. Tee boxes are 1, 2, 3 and 4. 1 yardage is 6842, 2 is 6529, 3 is 6184 and 4 is 5718. The club carries out training facilities which provides putting green, chipping area and teaching professional. Their on site teaching professional is Chris Stein. The club does not have any dress code and spike compulsion. Guests are only with member and there is course access too. Discounts are not at all available. Professional shops are also there which provides different sorts of golf accessories, apparels and clubs. Their surrounding area covers county San Francisco with no homes and no golf community. The Olympic Club course’s goal is not just to make the green but it is to improve the quality of the game, to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests and members by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
