Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society.
The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.
Quail Ranch is a famous golf course that is located on the Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley suburb of California. It is a public golf course that has 18 holes and is extremely well maintained with a great deal of variation. It was built in the year 1968 and designed by a renowned designer Desmond Muirhead. The course features includes Bent grass type with 41 to 50 sand bunkers and 200, 150, 100 yard markers.
Quail Ranch course's greens are difficult to read, and its terrain is hilly in certain areas. Hence, one can expect some uneven lies. Water hazards come into play on most holes, and there are sand bunkers protecting half the holes. An difficult approach shot awaits on hole number 14, a 387-yard, par 4, which has a pond fronting the green.
