O'Donnell Golf Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society.
The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.
O'Donnell Golf Club is a famous golf course that is located on the Belardo Road of Palm Springs suburb in California. It is a private golf course that has 18 holes and is extremely well maintained with a great deal of variation. It was built in the year 1927 and designed by renowned designers Johnny Dawson and Tom O'Donnell. The course features include Bent grass type while the fairways have a Bermuda grass type with 11 to 20 sand bunkers and 200, 150, 100 yard markers.
Located in the downtown and featuring the oldest course in the entire Coachella Valley, O'Donnell Golf Club is tight and somewhat flat, but there is one hole number 4, a 207-yard, which requires a tee shot from off a cliffside tee box. There are several sand bunkers and palm trees incorporated throughout the course's design. There are water hazards that come into play on two holes. Ladies tee off from the same set of tees as the men. However, there are additional tees that can be used for playing an eighteen hole round.
