Merced Golf Country Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Merced Golf and Country Club is a private golf course located in Merced, California. It is a golf course with eighteen holes and was built in 1926 by a famous designer, Bob E. Baldock. It is narrow course with tree-lined fairways and water comes into play on five holes along with bunkers, which are spread all through the course. Merced Golf course has bent grass all over with its fairways grass type being, Bermuda grass. It has got water hazards and 41 to 50 sand bunkers with the yardage markers of 200, 150, 100 yard sprinkler heads and Kirby markers. Their goal isn't just to make the green, it's to improve the quality of the game. They desire to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests, members and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
