Vale do Lobo Golf Club (Royal course)
Golf is an outdoor sport, originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Heathland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Vale do Lobo Golf Club is a large private estate nestled amidst lush pine groves bordering a miles long sandy beach. The Vale do Lobo brand new Royal Course is formed by the original Yellow nine hole loop, designed by Henry Cotton in 1972, and a new 9 hole loop, designed by William Rocky Roquemore in 1998. The new nine blends perfectly with the original course and was based on Sir Henry Cotton's plans. The course is set on gently rolling land winding through mature pine and fig trees and was conceived and laid out to fit the natural contours of the sandy terrain, without disturbing the natural environment. Nevertheless, some artificial lakes were added as well as extra molding to slightly highlight its natural features. This Par and Standard Scratch Score of 72 course has 18 hole measuring 6,050 meters or 6919 yards. Walking is allowed on the course and electric carts available. The signature hole is the picturesque 16th hole, the former 7th hole, on the late Yellow nine. In a most scenic location, perched high above the ocean on the edge of the cliffs bordering the Atlantic, it requires saving a deep ravine from the tee to get safely onto the fairway, possibly the most photographed hole in Europe. Their goal isn't just to make the green, it's to improve the quality of the game. They desire to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests, members and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
