St. Nom La Breteche Golf Club

Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.

St. Nom La Breteche Golf Club offers two exclusive and exciting golf courses known as the Red course and the Blue course. St. Nom La Breteche Golf Club is one of the famous residential golf clubs and is located at the edge of the Marly-le-Roi forest. Both, Red and Blue courses were designed and built in 1959 by a renowned architect Frederic William Hawtree.

The Red course owes its fame to the Trophee Lancome which is held here since 1967, although it is now played on a composite course formed by seven holes of the Blue course and eleven holes of the Red course. This championship course features a Par 72, 18 holes and a slope gradient of 145.

The Blue course on the other hand is much flatter than the Red course, making the layout very pleasant to play. This Red course has suffered many changes since its creation due to the plantation of many trees, which are now fully mature and add visual and technical interest to the course. The green keeping is of championship standard as seven hole of this course are used in the composite course which hosts the prestigious Trophee Lancome every year.

Both, Blue and Red courses are laid out on a rolling terrain which initially was an open pasture, but the plantation of many trees and semi rough areas, has reduced the openness of the original layouts making it a professional golf course. Patches of woodlands are scattered throughout the entire course and at times can cause golfers some real grief.

Open but challenging and picturesque with beautiful flowers, wildlife and a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside, the Red and the Blue Golf Courses offer a challenging round of golf for players of all skill levels.
