Rungsted Golf Club

Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society.

Rungsted Golf Club is an 18 holes course near Rungsted railway station. The golf course was designed by C.A. Mackenzie, designer of Augusta and both the golf course and clubhouse were inaugurated in 1937. Rungsted is located next to the train station, an important factor at that time to reach clubs and the back nine runs along the railway tracks. Laid out in wonderful park with large stands of beautiful trees, the course has remained much the same since its inception in the 1930's.

This par 72 course has 18 holes measuring 5,950 meters or 6,510 yards with a slope gradient of 131 from the championship tees. The difficulty of the course lies not so much in its length but in the numerous and cleverly laid out water hazards and the big stands of beautiful trees which line the fairways. The greens are well defended and difficult to read.

The fairways were nevertheless modernised in 1982 so that the club could combine its position as one of Denmark's top facility. Rungsted has often been the sight for the opening stages of national and international tournaments, such as the first Scandinavian Amateur Championship held here in 1956. Tee times available, visitors allowed only after 12 noon on weekends and bank holidays, no buggies available, and proper golf attire is required.

Rungsted has a nice, conventional Danish-style clubhouse with a terrace and visitors are welcomed with some restrictions. The course is opened all year, but subject to weather conditions and light conditions during winter time. At Rungsted Golf Club, they desire to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests, members and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
