Royal Golf Club des Fagnes

Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society.

Royal Golf Club des Fagnes was founded in 1930 by rich families from the nearby city of Verviers. At the heart of the deep forests of the Ardennes, Royal Golf Club des Fagnes lies at the border of the famous thermal resort of Spa. Extending over smoothly sloping wooded hills in Balmoral, this Tom Simpson design is a classic ranked amongst Europe Top 100 Courses.

This par 72 course has 18 holes measuring 6,040 meters or 6,608 yards with a slope gradient of 130 for a standard scratch score of 71.7 from the championship tees. This reasonably hilly layout is a perfect example of conventional inland course architecture, the game being conditioned by the ever encroaching woods, the thick rough and the tactically located bunkers. The front nine cuts through a thick forest while the back nine is more open but still surrounded by trees.

Tee shot placing and staying on the fairways is supreme there, while the greens are well defended and their surfaces tricky to read, stressing putting skills. This is a thinker course and its sanctuary like atmosphere will certainly help player concentrating on their game.

On a site of prefect tranquility, the layout shows a smart discretion, perfect integration in its natural surroundings and a crunchy design. Automatic watering system maintain the course in perfect conditions year round, enhancing further still an exciting golfing experience. For tee times advanced booking is required, walking is allowed and buggies available and proper golf attire is required.
