Quinta do Lago Golf Club (North course)
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Quinta do Lago Golf Club offers an exclusive and recreational golf course known as the North course that is located within the Quinta do Lago Resort. This course was established in 1974 and designed by a renowned architect William Mitchell. The North Course measures about 7,098 yards and features a 72 par with 18 total holes and 138 slope gradient. The North championship course has been the venue of the Portuguese Open on no less than seven occasions and is ranked as number 22 amongst the top 50 by British Golf World Magazine. The North course is set on gently undulating sandy hills amidst beautiful pine groves. Although both nines are anticlockwise loops, the first nine favors a draw, whilst the back nine favors a fade from the tee. There are few water hazards and the main difficulties are the looming pines bordering the wide fairways and the heather and broom rough.
Open but challenging and picturesque with beautiful flowers, wildlife and a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside, Quinta do Lago Golf Club offers a challenging round of golf for players of all skill levels. The club’s aim is not just to make the green but it is to improve the quality of the game, to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests and members by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
