Platja de Pals Golf

Golf is an outdoor sport, originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Heathland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.

Platja de Pals Golf, established 1966 and renovated 1972 with a Woodland Layout, is ranked amongst the Top 100 courses in Europe. Located in one of the most beautiful area of the Costa Brava, with mainly smooth unbroken terrain and the flexibility offered by several different tees, Pals lies laid out in the middle and quietness of a lush pine grove close to the beach and the medieval village of Pals. The Frederic W. Hawtree approach is unashamedly rooted in the history and traditions of the game, using an ideal golfing terrain to design a championship course while maintaining the integrity of the site by preserving its natural character and the beautiful wooded surroundings and the original fun and enjoyment of the game are cardinal.

This classic design basically brings bunkers into play to defend the greens, which are not very large yet rather easy to read. The forest is not only thick, requiring good drives to keep out and very good recovery shots to get out of the woods, but the span of these parasol pines tends to make the fairways narrower and the branches sometimes even keep the balls. Yet the natural protection of this pine grove is welcome when the Tramuntana local strong northern wind blows in. The sandy soil also soaks up any rain very quickly, providing a smooth and links like terrain.

This Par 73 Course has 18 holes measuring 6,222 meters or 6,913 yards with a 127 slope gradient for a SSS, Standard Scratch Score of 72 from the championship tees. Walking is allowed on the course and Electric carts are available. It plays host to the Spanish Open and European Junior Championships.

Their goal isn't just to make the green, it's to improve the quality of the game. They desire to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests, members and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
