Oslo Golf Club
Golf is an outdoor sport, originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Heathland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Oslo Golf Club’s idyllic parkland layout is located in a typical Norwegian forest setting, bordered on two sides by the lake and with some fine views of the Holmenkollen range, which adds a lot of charm to the layout. The course at Oslo Golf Club was built by club members back in 1924, but was recently restyled. The layout stretches on densely undulated, wooded terrain, although the trees are more intimidating than a real threat, except on the doglegs. Otherwise, difficulties are evenly spread around this well balanced course, where difficult holes nicely alternate with easier ones. The greens are large, sometimes elevated and in general well guarded. Surrounded by a lake on two sides, water hazards are nevertheless kept to a minimum and the lake itself only comes into play on a few holes, such as the 16th, a par 3 with a carry from the tee over an arm of Lake Bogstad. There are some dangerous out of bounds as well. A nice course accessible to all from the forward tees, the back tees are reserved for scratch and low handicappers only and it is a visually very rewarding experience, weather permitting. Golf is considered as a sport in Scandinavia and Oslo is therefore a walking course, no buggies here. This Par 72 Course has 18 holes measuring 6,144 meters or 6,722 yards with a 130 slope gradient for a 72.8 course rating from the championship tees. Walking is allowed on the course. It has been ranked as one of the top 100 European Golf Courses by the British Golf world magazine. Their goal isn't just to make the green, it's to improve the quality of the game. They desire to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests, members and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
