Noordwijkse Golf Club

Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society.

Noordwijkse Golf Club is located in Noordwijk, Netherlands. The course was established in 1915 by architect Frank Pennink. The course is considerably younger, after the old nine-hole course had to give way to the expansion of the seaside resort of Noordwijk in 1971. The Golf Club moved six kilometres up north on the shore to Noordwijkerhout, where there was room enough for eighteen holes and three practice holes.

Designed by Frank Pennink with the help of sketches from club secretary Paul de Jong, the new layout opened in 1972 and noticeably rolls between high sand dunes right along the Northern Sea. This roller-coaster brings into play only the natural elements of this perfect golfing terrain, enhanced by pot bunkers, blind shots and full exposure to the wind. Only five of the eighteen holes are somewhat protected by the woods, the rest of course is laid out through shelter less open terrain.

This par 72 course has 18 holes measuring 6,242 meters or 6,829 yards with a slope gradient of 135 for a standard scratch score of 71.8 from the championship tees. The wind, the numerous lies, the dense rough and thick bushes will require good shot control and low flying balls when the winds picks up. Most of the greens are surrounded by dense rough and heavy mounding. The course offers a great occasion to play a true links without having to take the ferry across the channel and ranked amongst Continental Europe Top 30 courses. For tee times advanced booking required for visitors. Dress code is required in the club.

At Noordwijkse Golf Club, their goal is not to merely make the green but also to improve the quality of the game. They focus to exceed the needs and expectations of their members, guests and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
