Morfontaine Golf Club

Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society.

The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.

Morfontaine Golf Club has two courses namely Morfontaine golf course and Valliere golf course. Morfontaine golf course is a classic and famous golf course that possesses a sleeping beauty amidst lush pine and birch forests in the Chantilly region and embodies the tradition of golf. The course was built in 1927 and designed by a renowned architect Tom Simpson. This championship course is a 72 par, with 18 holes, narrow fairways abound with pine and birch trees and thick heather. The course is laid out on sandy soil, providing excellent playing conditions even after heavy rain.

The Valliere golf course has a woodland layout and was built in 1912 by Tom Simpson. The course has 9 total holes and par 36 while it measures 2,790 yards. Valliere is a prefect complement to the championship course, sharing the same wooded environment and overall quality.

Nevertheless, both the courses are well worth the effort to try and have the privilege to play with an exceptional design in no less exceptional surroundings. Open but challenging and picturesque with beautiful flowers, wildlife and a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside, Morfontaine golf course offers a challenging round of golf for players of all skill levels.
