Le Querce Golf Club

Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society.

The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.

Le Querce Golf Course was established in 1985 and designed by Architect David Mezzacane, Jim and George Fazio with 18 holes for a par 72 measuring 6,462 meters or 7,070 yards from the championship tees. Le Querce was named after the several mature oak trees lining it fairways. However, the layout is quite open and provides superb panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

Its championship qualities are obvious, the course has hosted a World Cup and average players should stay clear from the back tees and play from the front ones, although it will still remains a challenging experience. The layout is very open but the sloping terrain and many hazards call for thoughtful club selection and inspired tactical decisions. The greens are large but heavily defended and steeply contoured. Walking is allowed and buggies are available.

Le Querce is a private club and a national golf centre for the Italian Golf Federation, jointly promoted by the Federation and the Italian Olympic Committee. Le Querce has been the venue of the 1991 World Cup and is ranked 16th amongst the Top European courses by British golf magazine Golf World. Le Querce Golf Club has recently opened beautiful dormy house apartments for weekend and holiday golfers. All apartments are comfortably furnished and fully equipped for a pleasant stay overlooking Le Querce fairways. Le Querce is a prime golf destination at the heart of the Etruscan country, north of Rome and off the beaten track of package golf.
