Is Molas Golf Club

Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved.

Stretching over 1,500 acres of softly sloping land in the foothills on the southern coast of Sardinia, Is Molas is a complete golf resort boasting one of the three championship courses on the island. The resort features a host of sporting activities, a private beach, residential villas and the four star Is Molas golf Hotel. Designed by British architects Henry Cotton and Frank Pennink, the course was actually built under the supervision of Piero Mancinelli, one of Italy's leading architects.

Is Molas has hosted the Italian Open on three occasions and it is a regular stop of the European PGA, Professional Golfers' Association Challenge Tour. The layout has also been ranked by Il Mondo del Golf and Golf Digest as one of the ten most beautiful courses in Italy. Although a classic Mediterranean course, most of the tees afford panoramic view of the emerald sea, Is Molas light, wind and surroundings are somewhat evocative of Scotland and California.

A well balanced layout, Is Molas has wonderfully hugged the contours of the terrain and shows a very natural aspect, nestling between the sea and hills covered with Mediterranean scrubs. Although not directly on the sea shore, the course clearly comes under its influence and the wind is a key playing factor. However a mountain range, which harbors a varied flora and fauna, shelters the course from the cool north-westerly winds blowing in winter.

This par 72 course has 18 holes measuring 6,383 meters or 6,983 yards from the championship tees. The course has a very reputable length but the ball rolls a long way on the fast fairways, making water hazards even more dangerous, and there are several of them at Is Molas. Intentionally placed clumps of vegetation, bunkers and deep depressions in the ground contribute to the excitement of the game but also represent dangerous hazards. Walking is allowed and caddies, buggies are available. Is Molas Golf Club is a challenging and fun course in top championship playing conditions.
