I Roveri Golf & Sports Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society. I Roveri Golf & Sports Club was established in 1971 and designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. with 27 holes. On the northern outskirts of Turin, Piedmont capital, the small town of Venaria boasts two winning golf facilities. The Circolo Golf Torino and the Associazione Sportiva I Roveri are both located within La Mandria estate, once the Royal Hunting grounds of the Savoy family and now a 4,500 acres natural park. With 36 holes and founded in 1924, Torino is the largest and oldest of the two, but with 27 holes designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., I Roveri has nothing to envy to its eldest neighbour. Both courses are ranked amongst the top five courses in the country. This par 72 course has 18 holes measuring 6,218 meters or 6,802 yards with a slope gradient of 125 for a standard scratch score of 72 from the championship tees. The ancient trees of the oak forest form a natural barrier, separating and isolating the fairways and providing a pleasant sensation of privateness. The ancient trees of the oak forest form a natural barrier, separating and dividing the fairways and providing a pleasant sensation of privateness, rare on most modern layouts. The championship course is a typical Robert Trent Jones, Sr. target-golf layout. Not an easy round of golf but definitely one of the best course in Italy, as reckoned by Il Mondo del Golf and Golf Digest magazine, which ranked I Roveri 3rd. The course is designed specifically to improve the quality of the game.
