Holstebro Golf Club

Golf is an outdoor sport, originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Heathland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.

Holstebro Golf Club, established in 1970, is designed by Eric Schnack. As Denmark's leading course and consistently ranked in Europe Top 100, it is acclaimed as one of the most scenic and best maintained courses in the country and it has been chosen on various occasion as venue for the international Danish and Scandinavian Championships. The Skovbanen, Forest Course with the championship Heathland and Woodland layout at Holstebro enjoys a beautiful location amidst the former Raasted Plantage plantation in West Jutland, not far from the North Sea, over heater covered grounds well sheltered by the forest. Also the well manicured fairways are generous, wayward hits can cause plenty of trouble due to the secluded rows of fir trees and dense heather rough.

This abundance of natural hazards explains why there are few green-side bunkers and just one single fairway bunker. No artificial hazards were necessary as trees and lakes are enough to keep most players on their toes. Holstebro is a very forthright course and game strategy is immediately clear from the very tee. There are no blind greens except on the doglegs and greens are well designed without excessive sloping. The course is spectacular for its forest setting providing a very pleasant layout, with each hole having a special character of its own and gives a wonderful sensation of isolation.

This Par 72 course has 18 holes measuring 6,221 meters or 6,808 yards with a 135 slope gradient for a 73.4 course rating from the championship tees. Walking is allowed but only Soft spikes can be worn and Buggies are available.

Their goal isn't just to make the green, it's to improve the quality of the game. They desire to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests, members and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
