Hardelot Golf Club (Les Pins course)
Golf is an outdoor sport, originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Heathland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Hardelot Golf Club is located in Hardelot, France. Hardelot boasts some 2,500 acres of sand dunes and forest and a huge 10 mile sandy beach. Amidst this outstanding natural environment, the Domaine d'Hardelot encompass two eighteen hole championship golf courses. First laid out in 1905 by architect Paul Rolin, with a Links and Woodland Layout, the Les Pins course was extensively redesigned in 1931 by famous British architect Tom Simpson and this is one of his finest works. Les Pins is a testimony to classic British architecture and like good wine, it gets better over the years. Set amidst breathtaking surrounding of deep and scented pine forests and rolling sand dunes, the design has hardly disturbed the environment and has rather use the natural contour of the land to fit in the layout. With subtle greens, devilishly placed bunkers and narrow tree lined fairways, the course requires precision off the tees and on the fairways. On this seaside course, the wind is obviously a major playing factor and an already tight course will seem to shrink even more when the wind is blowing in. The sandy soil on which the course is laid out provides for prefect playing conditions under all weather conditions. Furthermore, the course will benefit in the year 2000 from a new automatic irrigation system, which will keep the fairways green and lush throughout the summer season. This Par 73 Course has 18 holes measuring 5,926 meters or 6,483 yards with a slope gradient of 132 for a SSS, Standard Scratch Score of 71.0 from the championship tees. Walking is allowed on the course and Buggies are available. Their goal isn't just to make the green, it's to improve the quality of the game. They desire to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests, members and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
