Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Fontainebleau Golf Club was established in 1909 having 28 holes and was designed by Tom Simpson. L'Association Sportive du Golf de Fontainebleau is situated in the royal town of Fontainebleau, residence of French kings throughout the centuries. This club is considered as one of the top clubs in Europe and was ranked 11th by British golf magazine Golf World.
The Fontainebleau course is a Par 72, 18 holes, measuring 6,645 yards with a slope gradient of 130 from the championship tees. On the edge of the beautiful Fontainebleau Forest, the layout pleasingly extends on a large site enclosed by walls, still widely know as Le Grand Parquet. The greens are on the small side and of quite tortuous design, requiring a good short game.
