Emporda Golf Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Emporda Golf Club offers exclusive and recreational golf courses known as Llevant Course and the Gold Course. Llevant Course was built in 1990 and designed by a renowned architect Robert von Hagge. The course is set in the beautiful countryside of the Costa Brava hinterland with 18 holes, 6,739 yards spread out and has reminiscent green nine of Scottish links with undulated fairways, mounds separating the fairways and rather barren look. The Gold Course was also built in 1990 by Robert von Hagge and is adjacent to the Blue nine of the Llevant course and both nines share pretty similar characteristics. The layout goes through lush pine groves of huge and mature umbrellas pines, defining and separating the fairways while chastising stray shots. However, there is no water hazard on this nine. The greens are kept in perfect shape, well designed and often very long. The sandy nature of the soil drains the water very well which allows play right after a rain fall. Open but challenging and picturesque with beautiful flowers, wildlife and a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside, Emporda Golf Club offers challenging courses for players of all skill levels.
