Domaine de Sperone Golf
Golf is an outdoor sport, originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Heathland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. The Domaine de Sperone Golf course was set up in 1990 as a Seaside Course. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Sperone is located on a breathtaking site at the southern tip of Corsica, overlooking the Mediterranean sea the tiny islands of Cavallo and Lavezzi, and the island of Sardinia, across the Bonifacio strait, Sperone course stretches over 180 acres of the some 350 acres of the estate, leaving plenty of space for well separated fairways, enhancing the communion with nature. This gem of a course stretching on a peninsula features two contrasting nines. The nine inland holes spread over heathland and gorse hills, rolling down towards the nine links holes stretching along the sea. Seven of these holes are right atop the cliffs overlooking the sea, varying in colors from bright turquoise to deep navy blue, with several white sand coves protected by slick rocky outcrops. An eye on the ball will be highly necessary to tame this challenging layout, particularly in windy conditions. This quite hilly course features several water hazards and the fairways are bordered by the thick Mediterranean rough called maquis. The greens are on the small size and heavily defended by over one hundred sand and grass bunkers. It’s definitively worth the trip for its splendid surroundings. Sperone is ranked amongst the best courses in France and the top twenty five golf courses in continental Europe having a, Committed to Green, label. This 18 Hole Course measures 6,130 meters or 6,707 yards for a Par 72 and a SSS, Standard Scratch Score of 74.5 with a Slope gradient of 144 from the Championship Tees. Walking is allowed on the course and Buggies are available. Their goal isn't just to make the green, it's to improve the quality of the game. They desire to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests, members and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
