Chiberta Golf Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Chiberta Golf Club is one of the exciting and superior golf courses that is set in the Basque country, where France meets Spain and the Atlantic Ocean embraces the Pyrenees mountain range. The course was established in 1927 with 18 holes and designed by Tom Simpson. The course features include par 71, 6,179 measuring area, links layout and 125 slope gradient.
The Chiberta course is divided in two complementary set of holes. Eleven links holes drift across sand barrens along the beach while the other seven holes extend through the tranquility of a pine grove, on the inland side of the coastal road. The spacious greens have a classic rather than extravagant design, with only a few subtly placed bunkers protecting them. However, these bunkers are placed in such a way that they cannot by trifled with. The fairways are bordered with thick, heavy grass rough, making ball recovering a very difficult task indeed.
Open but challenging and picturesque with beautiful flowers, wildlife and a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside, Chiberta golf course offers a challenging round of golf for players of all skill levels. The club’s aim is not just to make the green but it is to improve the quality of the game, to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests and members by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
