Bremen Zur Vahr Golf Club

Golf is an outdoor sport, originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Heathland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.

With 650 clubs and 400.000 players, Germany is also the leading golf country in Europe outside the British Isles. Golf clubs are evenly distributed throughout the country. German architect Bernhard von Limburger designed four of Germany’s eleven clubs ranked amongst Europe’s Top 100 Courses, and one of them is the Bremen zur Vahr. The game of golf was played as early as 1895 on the racecourse. In 1901, Mrs. Agnes Boecker von Kapff, playing at Bremen, won the Fano, International Golf Championship of Denmark. She was thus the very first German lady golf player to win a title of Golf Champion. Her gold trophy is still featured in the zur Vahr club house.

At the Club zur Vahr nestles one of Germany’s original and best courses. Carved through a Pine forest the course is now called Garlstedter Heide and its even better after its 2004 facelift. The Club Zur Vahr Bremen has two golf courses, each of which has its own distinctive charm. The 9-hole course at Vahr is a green oasis in the heart of the city.

The 18-hole-course in Garlstedt is no more than a 20-minute drive from Bremen. Set in a landscape of great variety, surrounded by lakes and magnificent woodlands, it boasts a challenging course offering a varied golf experience. The Garlstedt golf links rank among the most beautiful golf courses in Europe and have led to Club zur Vahr’s qualification as a member of the Leading Golf Courses of Germany. The zur Vahr’s Par 71 Course measures 5777 and 5212 meters with slope gradients of 111 and 113 for a course rating of 68.5 and 71.0, respectively.

Their goal isn't just to make the green, it's to improve the quality of the game. They desire to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests, members and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
