Beuerberg Golf Club
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. This game does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Although often viewed as an elite pastime, golf is now becoming an increasingly popular sport across all sections of society.
The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Healthland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive.
Beuerberg Golf Club is one of the exciting and superior golf courses and is set in the south-eastern hinterland of Lake Starnberg, near Konigsdorf. The club lies amidst rolling woodland and meadows on the 270 acre estate of the former manor Sterz. Beuerberg was established in 1982 with 18 holes and designed by Donald Harradine.
The compassionately laid out fairways run through gently rolling hill country and are lined by deciduous trees, although these never give a notion of narrowness to the course. There is not even a single hole at Beuerberg which is not bordered or crossed by a natural but threatening water hazards. Small wooden houses embellish the ponds and romantic little bridges cross swift running brooks. Countless strategically placed bunkers also bedeck the fairways and defend the greens.
