Barseback Golf & Country Club
Golf is an outdoor sport, originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. Golf is played on a tract of land known as the course which consists of a series of holes or cups. Most golf courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes. There are several types of golf courses namely Parkland, Links, Heathland, Desert, Browns, Sand, Snow, Par3 and Executive. Barseback Golf and Country Club’s Old course was designed and built in 1969 with a Parkland and Seaside layout by Donald Steel and Ture Bruce. Scandinavia's premier golf resort enjoys a beautiful location in wooded surroundings on the shores of the Oresund sound, the narrow stretch of water which separates Sweden and Denmark. Venue of several Volvo Scandinavian Masters, after which the Old course was named, and the 2003 Solheim Cup, the first holes of the Old, Masters, Course wind their way through thick but well cleared woods, requiring straight driving, the ability to bend the ball and skilled recovery shots. Further on, the course reaches the seashore on holes 9, 10 and 11, where target golf gives way to low bump and run shots, taking into account the always breezy conditions of the Oresund sound. The course then goes back into the woods until reaching the sharply doglegged 18th for a grand finish in front of the clubhouse. Although challenging for players seeking a good score, Barseback is still accessible to the less skilled player if played form the front tees. A great experience on one of Europe's, consistently ranked amongst the Top 20 courses, it’s nicely complemented by a round on the more easy going New course. The Old Course has 18 Holes measuring 6,395 meters or 6,996 yards for a Par 72 course rating of 80.3 with a slope gradient of 140 from the Championship Tees. Walking is allowed on both courses and Buggies and Clubs are available. Their goal isn't just to make the green, it's to improve the quality of the game. They desire to exceed the needs and expectations of their guests, members and landlords by maintaining superior golf facilities and providing exceptional service at a great value.
